The dish is the perfect size for standard pies and the top protects the pie from my pastry-loving cat. I wanted a dish as a centerpiece that would keep my cat from licking it. The stoneware conducts heat evenly to bake pumpkin pies without scorching the pastry. It is a snap to wash by hand, as I didn't chance it in the dishwasher. The only con is that the pastry becomes a little soggy if the lid stays too long on the pie between servings.

Unfortunately, it arrived broken. I was really looking forward to using it on our Thanksgiving table. But it had not been package well enough for the long trip to Alaska and arrived in several pieces. I love Martha Stewart and was very disappointed.
