Located in Brazil, Santa Marina has been producing different glass products since 1895. The factory location is close to raw material deposits of boron and sand which is rich in color and quality. During the production process, these raw materials are combined using heat to make borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is resistant to changes in temperatures used in cooking and baking. The raw materials also give Marinex glass bakeware a slight bluish tint consistant throughout all pieces. Marinex Glass Bakeware offers several shapes and sizes that have countless uses in culinary activities and are prominent by their beauty, durability, and ease of cleaning. It can be used to prepare, bake, and serve food as well as to freeze prepared food. It is safe for both conventional ovens and microwave ovens. Marinex Bakeware can go from the freezer/refrigerator to a pre-heated oven where the oven temperature does not exceed 100C or 212F to start. However, Marinex Bakeware should not be used on stovetop burners or over a direct flame. This is a 1.7qt. fluted round pie baking dish that measures 11-1/8" x 10" x 1-7/8". I have taken over as family pie baker but I was down to just one pyrex pie pan that was handed down to me several years ago from my mother-in-law. I happened to find these online and they are perfect match for the one I had. I prefer the smaller handles and fluted edge that these have. I had tried several others but these work hte best!

I left my other 10" pie plates at my daughters house in another state. Didn't worry much, figured I'de just go to the local store and replace them. You cannot find 10" pie plates anywhere! Amazon's price was reasonable and shipping was quick. Would recommend if you like bigger pies, that extra 1/2 in dimension makes a big difference.

Marinex glass baking dishes are expensive, but they're made of borosilicate glass, which is less susceptible to thermal shock than tempered soda lime glass, which Pyrex uses. (Years ago, Pyrex dishes were also made of borosilicate glass.) After two of my newer Pyrex dishes shattered from being set down on a room-temperature, ceramic-tile countertop, I began converting all of my glass cooking dishes from Pyrex to Marinex. So far, I've been very happy with the Marinex brand.This 10-inch MARINEX GLASS FLUTED PIE DISH is exactly what I wanted for making homemade apple pies. The dish is not too large for commercial crusts (e.g., Pillsbury Readymade Pie Crust from my grocery's cold case), it produces a larger pie, and it's deep enough to hold extra filling. Apple pies aren't difficult to make, but they're time-consuming because you have to core, pare, and slice a lot of apples. It doesn't take much extra time to prepare a few more apples to fill a large-size pie, and after the pie is baked you can get a few more servings out of it. The extra filling means that a slightly narrower pie wedge is still a generous dessert serving.Marinex warns that a pie dish taken from the freezer should not be placed immediately in an oven, if the oven has been preheated above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. (Thermal shock is still something to be careful about, no matter what kind of glass is in your baking dish.) This 10-inch pie dish is larger in capacity than either my Anchor Hocking "deep dish" pie dish or my Pyrex 9-1/2" large pie dish.
