This redesign of Pyrex's larger pie plate is just great.It's more attractive than any other glass pie plate I've seen, and as the name says, it's easy to grab when you go to pull it hot and bubbling out of the oven. Great when an old classic is replaced by something even better. And as always with Pyrex products, the price is right.

Used to use metal plates -- I don't know why probably because that's what my mother used. These are great, really easy to grab from the oven with mitts, and no cookie sheet needed for support. Custard based pies don't 'weep' anymore because the glass heats so much more evenly. And nothing sticks so far! Because the metal plates I used were 9-inch and never could contain the amount of ingredients in several recipes, I thought I needed the 9-1/2 inch pans, but the 9-inch would have been fine. I didn't realize how deep these were -- but they still worked great and recipes can be adjusted.

This is a beautiful pan, I've used it several times now to make the best apple pie. The crust turned out perfectly in this pan! It was deep enough to hold the 8 sliced apples I put in my pies, most pans I've seen and used can only hold about 5 or 6, so that was a huge plus. The ridges are a nice touch, clean up a breeze, hasn't scratched yet, dishwasher safe and easy to get in and out of the oven. I've used Pyrex for over a year now and have never had trouble with them exploding after being removed from the oven, I've baked with this glass pan and another Pyrex one several times and never had so much as a crack in the glass. The main reason I reviewed this was to say you can find it about half the price at Walmart. For five bucks at Walmart the things a steal, but I would also say it's worth the ten dollars it costs on here. I highly recommend this pie plate and all other Pyrex products.
